The Green School Committee

Environmental awareness is a topic which we consider very important to the children's social and personal development.  Before we joined An Taisce's Green Flag Project the school was reducing, recycling and composting.

The pupils were awarded their first Green Flag in March 2006 and the second in 2008, another for transport  in 2012.  We are very proud to be the first school in Wicklow to achieve the Green Flag for transport with ongoing walk to school days each Wednesday.  These three Green Flags were obtained after much work, enthusiasm and enjoyment, which of course is ongoing.

The green school committee is made up of two student representatives per class and three parents.  The children on the committee work with their classmates to awards achieving the next green flag.

The children attend all the workshops provided by An Taisce and Sustainable Energy Ireland.  It is our hope that the children will take with them these life skills when leaving school and make a difference however small or large that may be.
