Wicklow Montessori School Council is comprised of a representative from second class to sixth class. We hold early morning monthly meetings where at least two members of staff attend. A fifth class student is responsible for taking minutes and submitting an agenda to the staff two days prior to the meeting.
For the school year 2019/2020, the students decided that they wanted to concentrate on making our school more environmentally friendly. They are working on reducing plastic in our school by encouraging all pupils to refrain from bringing plastic-wrapped items for snacks and lunch. They have also written to parents asking them to turn off their car engines while waiting to collect children. Before the pandemic started, they were planning ways to develop our garden areas. They also gifted the school two beautiful insect "hotels".
